Pastors are essential to the church. Yet, the office is largely misunderstood by the average church member because Pastoral Theology is not often taught in the church. However, if a biblical pastoral theology is not taught to the church, there will always be a misunderstanding of who a pastor is, what a pastor is supposed to do, and why he does what he does. This misunderstanding happens because we fill the void left by the lack of right teaching with our experience and opinions—not by the Word of God.
This is a journey that the leadership of Calvary believes is necessary at this time because this church must be a united church. We are first, and foremost united in Jesus Christ, and we are united by what we believe. Theology is the foundation upon which all of our teaching, preaching, and living is built.
